Many shacks were flooded and hundreds of people displaced in Foreman Road squatter camp in Clare Estate on Sunday morning after a fire ate their shacks.
The municipality has put up a tent to accommodate affected families.
When the SunTeam visited the site, the tent was in a shambles.
Wind had ripped off the side of the tent and the place was soaking wet.
Moneleli Gqawuka (36) was sleeping on a mattress on the wet ground.
“I’ve been sleeping like this since Tuesday night,” a worried Moneleli told the People’s Paper.
“The tent may cave in at any moment, but I have nowhere else to go.”
Another shack dweller, Mzamo Mkhize, said others sought refuge with neighbours whose shacks were spared from the fire.
Meanwhile, weather forecaster Wiseman Dlamini told Daily Sun an 80% chance of rain, accompanied by winds and lightning, was expected.
The bad weather was expected to
improve today.

She said the teams were on standby to help victims.
