ANC KZN chairman Sihle Zikalala has threatened that the trading days of Sodwana Bay Guest House are over.

Zikalala expressed his anger over the owner of the guest house, Andre Slade, when he addressed a crowd of about 5 000 youths who gathered outside the ANC provincial house in Durban during the unveiling of the election countdown clock on Saturday.

Slade trended on social media on Thursday when a racist e-mail he sent to a potential guest went viral.

In the e-mail Slade turned down a client who wanted accommodation at his guest house because of the colour of the skin.

His response read: “Hi. We do not accommodate blacks or government employees any longer.”

Zikalala said: “When you say you don’t need black people in your business, we are saying your days of trading are now over.”

He said there was no way Slade could stay in South Africa and say his business does not accommodate black people.

Zikalala went on to say it was shocking that in this day and age acts of racism were growing instead of coming to an end.

“At the beginning of this year we learned with shock about a racist person called Penny Sparrow who likened black people to monkeys.

“Now there has been another one of her kind. We need to fight racism at all levels,” said Zikalala.

He urged the crowd and other ANC supporters who were not present to ensure that they conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the local government elections on 3 August.

Slade’s phone rang unanswered, but Daily Sun managed to get hold of his business partner, Katarina Krizani, who said they jointly sent out the e-mail that went viral on Thursday and they stood by their word.

“We are not scared of the ANC or anyone else. We listen to the word of God because everything is in his hands, not the ANC’s,” said Krizani.
