IF SENZO Mchunu’s supporters have their way, Durban will come to a standstill today.
Sthenjwa Nyawose, a supporter of Mchunu and James Nxumalo, said the number of marchers will be twice as many as last week as they protest against the new ANC provincial leadership.
According to Nyawose, the marchers will gather at King Dinuzulu Park and go down Dr Pixley KaSeme Street to the offices of the ANC.
He said they are going there to get a response after they handed over a memorandum to NEC member Joe Phaahla two weeks ago.
They demanded that the elective conference be held again.
“We will disrupt any meeting of the new leadership because we don’t recognise it,” Nyawose said.
On Thursday, Nyawose led supporters to disrupt a meeting of the new leadership at Durban City Hall.
Willies Mchunu, ANC deputy chairman in KZN, lashed out at Mchunu’s supporters who marched and disrupted a party meeting on Thursday night.
Mchunu said marching against the ANC was a tendency the party has never experienced.
He said he didn’t understand why people were marching while the national leadership was dealing with their grievances.
“We urge those members to give the NEC an opportunity to handle the matter and take a decision.” Nyawose said it was not about Senzo, but said they were doing it as ANC members.
