KHOLEKA Ngxulu has threatening to take legal action against the police.
She claimed two cops moered her on Saturday night for singing way too loud.
The woman from extension 6 in Joza kasi, Grahamstown, told Daily Sun she was on her way home from a traditional ceremony.
“Two angry policewomen pulled up next to me and asked me why I was singing loudly,” she claimed.
“I was sober as a judge, but they thought I was drunk. I even offered to take a breathalyser test.
“They forced me to stand on one leg for 10 minutes. I refused. After that, one of them assaulted me.”
Kholeka said she fought back and attacked the cop with stones.
“The second cop joined the fight. They overpowered me.
“They beat me with fists and klaps and kicked me all over my body,” she claimed.
“I fell to the ground and I had no feeling in my left arm.”
Kholeka said she screamed for help and the police got into their car and drove off.
“I lay helplessly on the ground, bleeding. I was rescued by a passerby who called an ambulance.”
She said doctors told her that her arm was broken and there was little chance it would work again.
“I’m planning to sue the police for pain and suffering, as well as for emotional distress,” she said.
Police spokeswoman Captain Mali Govender urged Kholeka to lay charges.
“The matter will then be fully investigated,” she said.
“If found guilty, action will be taken against the police.”
