THE blind singer wants to show her musical talent by entering a music competition but she does not qualify.

Thozama Zothe (39) told Daily Sun: “Cape Community FM’s competition only allows artists who have already recorded music.”

She wants a Good Samaritan to assist her to release her own gospel album.

Thozama, a mother of three from Khayelitsha, recently became a familiar figure at St Georges Mall in the Cape Town CD, where she sings on the pavement to raise money to fulfil her dream.

Holding a silver cup in her hand, she talked emotionally about her dream of recording an album.

“I sing gospel because I have devoted myself to God, my saviour. He helped me to get up again after I was bedridden because of a chronic illness.

“Some people offered to record my three songs but they want R600 per track, and I can’t afford that.

“The pension grant I get is only enough to support my children.”
