ANDILE Mngadi and her family were overjoyed when she gave birth last Sunday.

However, their joy turned to grief on Wednesday when an unknown woman stole little
Siphesihle Mngadi!

The 26-year-old mum told Daily Sun: “I went for a check-up at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital when a woman who looked heavily pregnant approached me and said she was bored sitting at home with her boyfriend. She asked if she could go with me.

“The woman, who looked like she was in her mid 20s, came to my home in the Joburg CBD. I had people over helping me as I was moving to Meadowlands in Soweto.”

Andile said when they arrived at home, the woman sat on her bed with Siphesihle while she helped a bakkie driver load her things on the vehicle. “I went back inside to fetch my nappy bag. And the woman was gone with my daughter! I drove around looking for her but she was nowhere to be found,” said Andile.

She said she immediately reported the case to Joburg Central Police Station.

“I am praying to God that I get my daughter back unharmed,” she said.

The police’s Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said they were appealing to the public to help them find the stolen baby.

He said people should call the police if they see a woman with a baby but they know she had not been pregnant.
