The roof at Phumulani Mall in Tembisa has collapsed, causing injuries to an unknown number of people, the mall's management said on Tuesday.

Its spokesperson, Godfrey Mashakgomo, said several people were injured when the roof collapsed during a heavy storm in the area. The exact number of injuries was yet to be confirmed.

"The whole mall is fucked up," Mashakgomo told News24.

Emergency services are currently on the scene to assess the situation.
