A NIGHT of partying ended badly for two couples from Stinkwater, north of Tshwane.
Two friends – one 18 and the other 32 years of age – were partying like kings at a local tavern. They were filling the tables with booze and food and they managed to attract two beautiful women.
Later in the evening, they decided to take the party to a guest house in the area.
But things turned ugly when a gun was discharged in their rented bedroom in the early hours of Thursday morning.
An employee at the guest house said the four were drunk when they booked a room at about 11pm on Wednesday. Hours later, he heard the sound of a gunshot.
“I immediately called the police,” he said.
Temba police spokesman Constable Herman Moremi said: “When we arrived, the suspects refused to open the door and the police were forced to break it. We found a shotgun with its serial number filed off with four live bullets. The suspects were arrested and charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. They will appear at Moretele Magistrates Court soon.”
One of the women told Daily Sun that she didn’t know the two men.
“We only met them at the tavern. They invited us to join them and promised us a nice time. They said they were taxi owners.”
She said the men promised to give them money. She added that she regrets hooking up with them.
“If we hadn’t left with them, we wouldn’t be in this mess. We don’t know anything about the gun. We only heard it go off while we were sleeping.”
