REPORTERS were shown Oscar Pistorius’s cell and bathroom to show he didn’t get special treatment in jail.

The cell at Tshwane’s Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Facility looks just like other cells.

Today prison officials also showed reporters the cell where Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir was kept before his move to Zonderwater Prison, also in Tshwane.

The two high-profile prisoners shared a bathroom at Kgosi Mampuru.

Officials said the only thing different about the bathroom was the balancing bar for legless blade-runner Pistorius.

Acting Gauteng regional commissioner Mandla Mkabela said that the visit would help the media to appreciate challenges the Department of Correctional Service face in providing safe custody, rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders in society.

Pistorius had spent less than a year in the prison but his sentence is currently being challenged in the Supreme Court of Appeal. On Thursday, the court will decide whether Oscar’s culpable homicide conviction should be replaced with murder.

The ex-star athlete could face a 15-year prison sentence if the court decides he committed murder.
