STOP sleeping around and you will live longer!

This is according to gogo Ntlameng Moeketsi, who is 102 and still going strong.

Gogo Ntlameng believes the reason she has lived so long is because she looked after herself when she was growing up.

“At the rate our children are having babies out of wedlock, I doubt if there will be gogos in future,” she said.

“Who will tell our history?”

The gogo from Deemster Farm in Clocolan, Free State, feels it is her responsibility to speak out and advise young women how to behave before she dies.

These days she spends most of her time in bed as she suffers from athritis.

She told Daily Sun: “I am aware that I have limited time.

“My wish is to talk to the young women and tell them to focus on their education.

“They should delay having relationships. Sex before marriage destroys the dignity of our girls,” the gogo said.

“During our day we used to play mantlwane as a way of learning all about responsibility. Even though we played with boys, we never slept with them as we knew the consequences.”

Although the gogo managed to go only as far as grade 4, she is able to read and write.

Her dream was to become a nurse, but she could not due to the lack of money.

“I loved education very much and that is why my wish is to see many young women taking their studies seriously,” said gogo Ntlameng.

She said the girls back in her younger years had morals.

“Many young women in our time knew how to preserve themselves for their husbands,” she said.

“I got married when I was 18 and my husband paid lobola with 12 cows. This was a sign that I had behaved well before I got married.”

The gogo was blessed with eight children, all boys.

Only one is still alive, however. Gogo has 26 grandkids and 32 great-grandchildren.
