MZEKELO “Yeye” Peter is Kaizer Chiefs’ midfielder Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane’s biggest fan.
The two can easily be mistaken for twins as they look alike!
The 28-year-old from Mthatha sports dreadlocks just like his hero.
He says he hears every day from people and the midfielder’s fans how he reminds them of the soccer star.
Mzekelo from Khambi Village in Mthatha has collected Chiefs T-shirts and tracksuits – all with the number 6 or “Yeye” written on them.
And like his idol, Mzekelo also is a soccer player. He plays for a local team called Jacaranda FC and also wears the number 6 jersey.
The local player coaches young footballers to help them realise their potential, as well as to focus on positive things while keeping physically and mentally fit.
He said: “When fans started calling me ‘Yeye’ I did not complain. Instead it was a compliment for me because I like everything about Letsholonyane.”
“That is why when I heard that Chiefs had not yet offered him a new contract I was so stressed. I prayed he stays at Chiefs as he is an integral part of the team.”
Mzekelo said what he loves most about Reneilwe is his style of play.
“I like the way he plays and the lethal combination he forms with Siphiwe Tshabalala. Yeye is a true soldier on the field of play.
“Even if he is out nursing an injury he still has an impact on Chiefs’ squad. He is my role model.”
“It is my dream to meet him and tell him just how much he inspires me in what I do in my neighbourhood.”
