TEMBISA police are asking for help to catch a suspect accused of theft of a motor vehicle.
Police say a warrant of arrest was
issued for Justice Mpanda, who allegedly stole his girlfriend’s car.
Car owner Dorrah Lebalo from Tembisa, Ekurhuleni said: “I met the guy two years back and he seemed like a very nice and kind person. We fell in love and started dating.”
In March he asked to borrow her Ford Ranger because he needed to go visit a relative.
“I did not mind because it was not the first time I had lent him my car.”
But she began to get worried when weeks passed without any word from her boyfriend. When she finally got through to Justice in June, he gave her stories about the car being broken.
“I told him I would deposit money to have the car fixed. After the money was deposited, that’s the last time I heard from him.”
Dorrah said she got the shock of her life when she went to the traffic department last month to pay for her licence disk.
She said she was told that a change of ownership had been made and the car no longer belonged to her.
That’s when she went to the police station to open a case.
“I can’t believe what this man has done to me after everything I have done for him. I took care of him and treated him well.”
Tembisa police spokesman Lieutenant Kay Makhubela said: “The police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down Justice. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Tembisa Police Station at 011 747 0300 or on 072 022 1901.”
