SANGOMA Nomakhosi said her geese are her saviours and protect her against evil.
The sangoma said the geese were able to sniff out evil muthi.
“It’s a well known fact that sangomas are always jealous of each other.
“When they see customers flock to you, they will do anything to destroy all that,” she said.
The sangoma from Tsakane, Ekurhuleni, said her geese are able to detect people who came into her yard with ill intentions.
“They chase them away. I love them and they are my assistants.”
Nomakhosi said because her geese looked after her, she always makes sure they are well fed and comfortable.
She said the geese also guard the goats and sheep in her yard.
“I usually open the kraal for my livestock to go out into the veld to graze.
“They graze not far from my home and the geese are always with them,” she said.
“Whenever someone comes close to my livestock, the geese make a noise to chase them away.
“It’s interesting to see how protective they are.”
Nomakhosi said her geese also guard her yard at night.
They make a noise if anyone enters her space.
She said they make her feel safe.
“I’ve heard some people say they won’t come into my yard if there’s no one here because they fear being attacked,” she said.
Nomakhosi said she started with just two geese but now she has 15.
“I’m not planning to sell them because if I do, thugs and others will play in my yard.”
She said she had been practising as a sangoma since she was only nine years old.
“People around here trust me and they always come here to consult me about their problems.”
