NELSON Dube (42) worked as a helper at a Lenasia family’s house where his wife was the domestic worker.
His relationship with his employers was good, but the woman’s 18-year-old son made his life miserable. Little did he know how deep the young man’s hatred for him was!
Nelson, from Finetown, near Ennerdale, south of Joburg, saidhe thanks his ancestors for saving him on Sunday.
He claimed he was about to step through his employer’s gate when the 18-year-old appeared with a 10-litre container filled with petrol.
“He doused me with petrol and then struck a match, but just as he was about to throw the flaming stick he tripped and fell,” claimed Nelson.
Nelson went to the boy’s parents.
“With the petrol still dripping from my clothes I started explaining what had happened when the boy charged at me with a knife. He looked as though he was on a mission to kill me and stabbed me twice, ” he said.
His wife, Onicca Monywabe (28) said it was not the first time the boy had assaulted Nelson.
“He once told me he was going to kill my husband. I thank God for protecting him.
Daily Sun tried to speak to the boy’s parents but they refused to comment.
Police spokesman Sergeant Khalipha Mvula said a case of assault had been opened at Lenasia cop shop. He said: “No arrests have been made but an investigation is underway.”
