THERE was much sadness when four members of the Arosi family were buried together on Saturday.

Sazi Arosi died of natural causes two weeks ago, only to be followed to the grave by his wife Lindiwe (51), son Buntu (25) and daughter Thandokazi (20).

Lindiwe and her two children were shot at their home in Waterfall Park, near Mthatha, last Sunday.

The local community hall was packed with mourners on Saturday, including King Sabata Dalindyebo mayor Nonkoliso Ngqongwa.

Relatives of the family said they were good people who didn’t deserve to be murdered like cold-blooded criminals. The surviving family members, including four adult children, said they live in fear of what would happen next.

Sazi’s sister, Nomonde Mdletye said: “We were still mourning the death of our brother when we heard what had happened to his wife and children. We are scared now.”

The gunmen were allegedly still searching for a member of the family, who was believed to have been the target of the shooting but wasn’t home during the incident.

CPF member, Siyazi Msila, said it was a revenge killing.

“A similar incident happened last year, leaving Buntu injured and his brother dead.

“We are hoping to make peace between the family and the people who did this,” he said.

  • So far four people have been taken in for questioning, but no arrests have been made.
