A HERO mum helped the cops arrest her own son, who was suspected of murder!

The 26-year-old suspect allegedly stabbed a commuter sitting next to him in a taxi heading to Bree Street Taxi Rank in Joburg.

Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said 21-year-old Zolile Fanti was stabbed once in the upper body at a filling station on the corner of Main Reef and Henry Nxumalo streets on Saturday. Mbele said the victim and the suspect were arguing in the back seat.

“When the suspect’s mum realised the argument was getting violent, she called Zolile to sit next to her but her son allegedly followed and stabbed him,” he said.

“Zolile was rushed to hospital where he later died. At this stage, we don’t know what they were arguing about.”

On the same day, the suspect went to see his mum at the taxi rank where she was selling food. His mum fed him but while he was still eating, she went to phone the cops. The suspect was still eating his pap and chicken when the cops bust him and threw him into their van.

The suspect was taken to Joburg Central cop shop. The police are still investigating and the suspect is due to appear in the Joburg Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Daily Sun spoke to Zolile’s mother Busi Fanti (60). She said she was sad that her son, who was humble and respectful, had to die in such a manner.

Busi said the mother of the suspect came to her and told her that the suspect was a troublemaker.

“She told me that the reason she called the cops to arrest him was because she was tired of him,” Busi said.

Zolile’s brother Bongani Makhubu (29), who spoke on behalf of the family, said they were still shocked.

“It is not easy to lose a relative. Life will not be the same again,” he said.

The suspect’s mother refused to speak to Daily Sun.
