THREE people were injured after the roof of a mosque collapsed on worshippers in the Verulam CBD, KwaZulu Natal on Monday afternoon.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa they were called to report an explosion at the mosque.
It is reported that as worshippers were exiting the mosque after their daily prayer, the entire roof collapsed trapping several of them under the rubble.
"It could not be established as to how many people were
in the mosque at the time of the collapse. The SAPS K9 Search and Rescue Unit
with the use of a specialised dog is currently conducting a search of the
debris to confirm that there are no further entrapments," Reaction Unit
South Africa said.
The circumstances surrounding the structural collapse are not yet clear, but investigations continue.
