NOT many people get shot twice and live to tell the tale.

But Madidi Kgathi (60) has been shot twice in two weeks – and allegedly by the same suspect!

Speaking to Daily Sun from his hospital bed Madidi, a former warrant officer, said he believes his ancestors saved him.

“I should be dead by now,” the ex-cop from Florida, west of Joburg, said.

After the first shooting incident the suspect was arrested, but subsequently released on bail last Friday.

However, on Saturday he returned, apparently to finish off the job!

The first time he was shot, Madidi said he was at home when some people knocked on the door and called his name.

“They fired several shots through the window and I was wounded in the upper body. I was rushed to hospital for treatment.”

He was discharged on Wednesday but on Saturday the same suspect returned and allegedly fired several bullets.

He said: “I had gone to drop off family members. On my way back I found a strange car parked outside my gate and I drove past. As I drove past, the man in the car gave chase and started shooting at me. I was shot several times but managed to drive to a friend’s house, where I collapsed.”

Gauteng provincial police spokesman Captain Kay Makhubele said the police were investigating double cases of attempted murder.

On Wednesday the suspect (54) appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court.

“After being released on R5 000 bail following the first incident, the same suspect allegedly shot and wounded the same victim again.

“He appeared in court again but this time remained in custody.”
