KZN education spokesman Kwazi Mthethwa has advised matric pupils to stay positive.

THE matric results are expected on Friday, and pupils who sat down for the final exams last year are already panicking.

The KZN education department has advised matrics who don’t make it this year not to lose hope.

It has suggested supplementary exams as another option.

Mthethwa said the department’s programme is aimed at providing a second chance to pupils who didn’t pass last year.

“Through it, they will be able to put more effort and rectify where they had gone wrong,” he said.

“There is nothing called failure in our
vocabulary.”

He advised pupils waiting for results to avoid making bad decisions such as suicide.

“We are very optimistic that the provincial pass rate will improve,”
he said.

“The results are expected on 4 January when Minister Angie Motshekga will make the announcement.”

KZN education MEC Dlungwana will make an announcement on 5 January.
