A WOMAN was repeatedly raped and her boyfriend was shot and wounded when he tried to run away, in Midrand, Gauteng police said yesterday.

The 19-year-old woman and her boyfriend were making their way back from a night out when two armed men confronted them in a veld, between Duduza and Ivory Park extension 14, in the early hours of Sunday morning, Captain Bernard Matimulane said.

The man was shot in his buttocks when he tried to run away. The attackers left him and took turns raping the woman. When they were done they let her go. She ran to find her boyfriend, who was lying on the ground bleeding. He was taken to a local hospital.

No arrests had been made and anyone with information about the attack is urged to contact Ivory Park police on 011-990-9600.
