HUNDREDS of ordinary citizens are expected to march to the ANC’s headquarters on Monday.
The organisers of the protest, which has been named #Occupy-LuthuliHouse, said they would go to Luthuli House in Joburg to demand that President Jacob Zuma and the ANC executive committee members resign. The organisers said they were also planning to demand the disbandment of the University Fees Commission, which they said was undermining conference resolutions of the ANC, and that a task team be formed to organise a special national conference.
One of the organisers, ANC member Bonolo Ramokhele, explained that the protest was planned for Monday as Zuma was expected then to attend a national working committee meeting.
- Meanwhile, the ANCYL in Limpopo has blamed members who returned from Cope for the current confusion in the party.
The league’s secretary in the province, Matome Moremi, claimed Cope sympathisers were calling for the removal of Zuma because they failed to get leadership positions through several means, including the courts. He said they would convene a special provincial general council on Saturday to discuss matters raised by opponents of Zuma.
