SOUTH Africans should be impimpis – but this time to fight drug dealers!
These were the words of kwaito musician Kabelo Mabalane, better known as Bouga Luv, who urged residents to blow the whistle on drug dealers.
He was speaking at Jeppe Police Station in Joburg during yesterday’s commemoration of International Drug Awareness Day.
He said apartheid had taught people not to talk to the police, but also encouraged residents to co-operate with cops.
“We should be impimpis.
“There are many places where you can call police anonymously,” he said.
Kabelo took part in a march against drugs which started at Joburg Central Police Station and ended at Jeppe Police Station, where a memorandum of grievances was handed to the cop shop’s senior management.
The memorandum was received by Colonel Franse Matlabo, who said police are committed to working with the community.
Kabelo said it is wrong to say South Africa belongs to all who live in it.
“I say this country belongs to all who love it. There are South Africans and foreign nationals who do not love this country, and they are the ones who are involved in drug trafficking.”
Former drug addict and TKZee family member Kagiso “Gwyza” Diseko said all those suffering because of drug addiction should get help. He encouraged the community to help expose drug dealers.
“Blow the whistle so the law can catch the people who get rich off the tears of our parents and the suffering of our children.”
