ZOLILE Mazeka (51) is a kind man who often lends a hand to those who are struggling.

He didn’t hesitate to help a boy who borrowed R10 from him, since he had just received his retirement package.

However his kind act was repaid with cruelty when the youth returned with a friend and tried to rob
Zolile.

Zolile, from extension 2 in Ivory Park, Ekurhuleni said he was robbed and assaulted in his shack by the same young man he had helped. “I know the boys who robbed me. One of them came and asked me for R10 on Saturday,” said Zolile. He suspects the young man wasn’t happy with the R10 after seeing him taking it from a bundle of R100 notes.

He was still sleeping on Sunday morning when he heard someone knocking at his door. “I asked who it was, but there was no answer. Then I heard a big bang as they broke down the door.”

Zolile screamed for help and neighbours blew whistles. The two thugs ran away but not before grabbing R1 000 from Zolile, and leaving him bleeding.

Captain Nelda Sekgobela said two suspects were arrested for robbery and assault.
