A KLERKSDORP family is reeling with shock following the death of two kids.

Rebaone Mbele (2) and Kamogelo Manoto (6) died on Wednesday after complaining of stomach cramps.

The family is traumatised and puzzled as to what could have led to this.

According to the kids’ gogo, Ellen Manoto (48), from Khuma in Stilfontein, near Klerksdorp in the North West, Rebaone started crying hysterically at about 10am on Wednesday.

“We held her in our arms as she was screaming in pain. She started getting worse and we realised we needed to call an ambulance,” said gogo Ellen.

She said while waiting for the ambulance, they received a call from Kamogelo’s school to say she wasn’t feeling well.

“We rushed to the school and found her in agony, like Rebaone. We rushed them to a local clinic but they died,” said Ellen.

The family believes the children ate poison but Ellen disagrees.

She said: “Whatever they ate, we also ate. As you can see, here is another child but she is okay. If it was poison, why is she not affected?”

North West police spokeswoman Colonel Adele Myburgh said they’ve opened an inquest docket for investigation.

“A post mortem was conducted but police have to wait for the results,” he said.

The kids will be buried on Saturday.
