THE two thugs were waiting for cash from the family of a man they had kidnapped when they got the surprise of their lives.
Cops stormed their shack on Wednesday and arrested them!
The suspects, aged 35 and 40, allegedly kidnapped their victim at Benoni Plaza in Ekurhuleni on Monday and locked him up for two days without food or water. They apparently demanded R10 000 in cash from his family for his release.
Ekurhuleni Metro police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Wilfred Kgasago told Daily Sun: “The 20-year-old victim was shopping at about 5.30pm on Monday when he was grabbed by two men and bundled into a Toyota Quantum.”
Kgasago said soon after kidnapping the young man, the two thugs came up with a plan to get money from his family. They contacted his sister, who told the cops.
“The perpetrators held the victim hostage in a shack at Emandleni, near Wattville. There he was constantly assaulted and not given food. The police planned for the kidnappers to meet the sister at a taxi rank in Benoni, where the ransom money would be paid,” said Kgasago.
“The kidnapper and the victim’s sister boarded a taxi, which led the police to Emandleni. There the victim was found alive with both legs and arms bound. He had a badly bruised arm.”
Lieutenant Nomsa Sekele of the Benoni Police Station said the suspects were expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court soon.
