WHEN she was pregnant, she was expecting twins . . .

But then, after the delivery of two babies, another little one arrived!

“At my prenatal check-ups I was told I was carrying two babies,” said Sithandiwe Madlokovu (27) from Mkholombe area near Port Shepstone, KZN, who gave birth to three girls on Saturday.

Sithandiwe said her babies were all in good health.

The happy young mum, already the parent of a three-year-old, is grateful for the help she got from paramedics.

“I would have been in serious trouble if the paramedics hadn’t arrived as quickly as they did,” she said.

Senior paramedic Stanley Zulu (40) and his colleague Sboniso Khuzwayo helped the woman.

“When we got to the mother’s home, we found the first baby had already been born,” said Stanley.

“We began helping her with the second baby.

“But then the third baby made its appearance.

“Later, the placenta was delivered to signal the process had ended.”

Sboniso said their biggest concern was to keep the babies warm.

“It was very cold, so we klapped them on their bums, wrapped them up and made sure they were comfortable. They were soon taken to hospital.

“Unemployed Sithandiwe lives with her unemployed boyfriend, the father of the babies.

“I’m applying for the child support grant so I can be able to provide for my babies.”

Health MEC Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo said: “We salute the paramedics for their good work.”
