CALLS for help to bury Bongeka Phungula (28) from Mayville in Durban, KZN have been heard.

A Good Samaritan businessman from Joburg, Calvin Mathibeli, has offered to help.

Bongeka’s body was found in Tladi, Soweto on Saturday while that of her friend Popi Qwabe (24) was discovered in Naledi the day before.

They had been raped and shot dead.

Bongeka quit her job in Durban earlier this year to move to Joburg to pursue a career in acting.

She was a student at Duma Ka Ndlovu’s academy for actors, DNA.

On Wednesday her cousin, Thobile Mgadi (32), pleaded for help with the transport of the body from Joburg to Durban, and to help pay for the funeral.

Thobile said Bongeka’s parents died while she was young.

She is survived by her pensioner gogo and a 13-year-old daughter.

Calvin told Daily Sun he was touched when he heard Bongeka’s story.

“I couldn’t sit and fold my hands.

“God’s Book encourages us to help each another. That’s all I’m trying to do,” he said.

SAPS spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said three people had been arrested in connection with the two murders.
