KHOLEKA Msiya (46) is an angry and disappointed woman. This comes after she was accidentally punched in the mouth by a store owner.
“I don’t want money. I just want my tooth back,” said Kholeka, from Pimville in Soweto.
She also claimed she was tricked by cops into signing an agreement for R500 compensation.
Kholeka said she went to Diepkloof, Soweto on Saturday to buy an extension cord for her spaza shop.
“I saw four drunk men standing outside the shop.”
An argument started between the owner and the men and Kholeka decided to leave.
“I was near the door when I felt a huge blow and became dizzy. I felt something in my mouth and thought it was chewing gum, but it was my tooth!” she said. The shopkeeper allegedly offered Kholeka R500 as compensation, but she refused to take the money because it would not cover the cost of getting false tooth.
“I went to the police station and two officers escorted me back to the store. One took out a notebook and wrote something on it. I was asked to sign the notebook without reading through it. The owner also signed.”
To her surprise, she found out she had just signed an agreement to receive R500 compensation.
“The police only told me afterwards what I had signed for. I told them that I would go to a doctor, get a quotation and come back!”
When Kholeka went back to the police station to try and open a case yesterday, she says police again refused to help her. She claims the cops said she was not injured on purpose. When Daily Sun contacted Diepkloof Police Captain Matlou Mpeto, he said Kholeka must come back to the police station. But this time, she must go straight to the station commander’s office and report the cops who failed to assist her.
