IN SCANDAL! he plays Scelo, the Ben 10 who dates
sophisticated older women.

But in real life Mbulelo Katise (20) from Daveyton, Ekurhuleni is no Ben 10.

He is just a regular guy working hard at carving out a career for himself.

In the soapie, Scelo first dated Dintle and then Kitso, who were older than he was, and now he is dating Phumla.

“It’s a relevant topic in our society. “People want to see things on TV that they can relate to in their lives,” said Mbulelo.

He said his acting skills were sharpened by his grandparents, Geoffrey Mbenge and Francis Ndlazilwana, who are both TV actors. His first acting job under their wings was for a noodles advert.

He later joined Home Affairs as
Lebo and then played Nkanyiso in Friends and Dreams. His next role was
Jiggar, the cleaner at Mam Ruby’s tavern in Generations.

Before joining Scandal! in 2012 he took a break to complete his matric at Benoni High School.

He regards his
father as his great motivator and his mother as his number one fan. He said his parents thought acting was a hobby to him but now it has become a
career.

“They helped me with some decisions
regarding my future,” he said. Mbulelo is part of Mi Casa’s Home Sweet Home project that promotes an appreciation for Africa.

His dream is to study hospitality and open his own restaurant one day.

Tomorrow he will join other celebrities taking part in a Cancer Walk in Kagiso, Mogale City.
