HERMAN the hitman says he wants God’s forgiveness for killing an innocent man on behalf of taxi bosses.

Herman told Daily Sun he was once an evil man who found joy in taking a life for money, but now his victim haunts him.

Herman Hlalele (40) from Sebokeng in the Vaal said he would never forget the day he and a friend accepted R5 000 each from a taxi boss to kill one of his rivals.

“I clearly remember the morning my friend and I went to the taxi rank. We shot the taxi owner and some of the bullets hit innocent people selling fruit.

“We were not caught and I went into hiding in the Free State.”

He said he soon stopped speaking to his friend because the man got drunk in taverns and spoke about the crime they had committed.

“I heard he was later shot dead on the N3 near Harrismith in KZN,” he said.

Herman said eventually he was arrested and served 20 years in prison, but he was still being punished by the ghost of the man he killed.

“I see him following me and he doesn’t want to talk.

“Even if I sleep away from home, he follows me.”

He said he asked the man who had hired him for help and was taken to a sangoma in Lesotho.

He was given muthi to wash with but it didn’t end his suffering.

“I want to live a happy life.

“I am now helping my brother with his construction company and I just want to work,” said Herman.

Sangoma Bobby Shabangu said Herman needs to find a strong sangoma with muthi to chase the ghost following him.

“It is a good sign that he is speaking about his past and wants to move on as a better person.

“He must just be given muthi to wash and all will be well for him,” said Shabangu.
