KABELO Monyela was supposed to bring his mum to school after teachers found a penknife in his pocket during a routine search.
That seemed to have frightened him. Now the 16-year-old has disappeared from his house in KwaMhlanga, Msholozi in Mpumalanga.
His mum, Hilda (38), said she was angry that Kabelo had taken a knife to school but she didn’t think it would make him run away.
The following morning when she was preparing for the day, she went to wake him up but he was gone.
“I thought maybe he had left without me but when I called his phone it went straight to voicemail. His siblings hadn’t seen him either and I got worried. That was on 3 February.”
Hilda said she rushed to his school, hoping to see him there but he was nowhere to be found.
“I waited the whole day for him to come back but until today, my son has been missing.”
The single mother of four said since the disappearance of her son she hasn’t been able to eat or sleep.
She said the last time she saw Kabelo, he was wearing blue jeans, a blue T-shirt, white sweater and grey and red sneakers. Hilda said every day when she sees kids in school uniform her heart breaks.
“I’m pleading with anyone who has seen my baby boy to contact me on 060 772 7475.”
