ONLY five people are legally allowed inside a Toyota Tazz.
Exceeding that number can lead to a charge of overloading.
But on Saturday, the small car was found carrying 14 passengers.
Surprisingly, the passengers were not even human – they were goats!
The car was found with 14 goats inside.
According to KZN police, the car was stolen in Newark, near Mandeni, on the KZN north coast.
Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala said the police received a tip-off about a stolen car and went to look for it. She said they spotted the car and chased after it.
“When the two suspects realised that the police were about to catch them, they abandoned the car at Thrings Post and ran away. Unfortunately they got away,” said Gwala.
She said the cops looked inside the car and were surprised to find it full of goats.
“The goats were so cramped they were battling to breathe.
“They were taken to an animal centre where they are being taken care of.”
She said the two suspects are still at large but the police are working to catch them.
The police are also looking for the owner of the goats, which were probably stolen.
“The animals are safe and in a healthy state,” she said.
