TWO boys were apparently playing with firecrackers while there was no adult around to keep an eye on them.
Then fun soon turned into trouble when they threw one of the firecrackers through a neighbour’s window . . .
In a flash the house was on fire, and when the family came home they found their belongings, including their Christmas presents, in a heap of ash!
The sisters who live in the house couldn’t help crying when they saw that nothing was spared in the fire.
Nonzuzo Ntloko of Dube, Soweto said she was at her son’s graduation event when she got a call from a neighbour telling her that her house was on fire.
“I thought they were joking because I didn’t leave any appliances on.”
Nonzuzo said this Christmas would be the worst ever. “I bought new clothes and presents for my children. Everything I planned for Christmas has been destroyed by the fire. I have nothing to look forward to. Life is not fair,” she cried.
Nonzuzo’s sister Phumla Ndabazitha said the family had no money to fix the house or replace the furniture.
The mother of one of the boys said they would meet with the family and discuss how they could help. “I know we cannot bring everything back but we have to do something about what happened,” the mum said.
