SIBONGILE said she was sleeping in her shack when a group of men and a woman claiming to be cops came to harass them.
Sibongile Mokone (32) and her nephew Sifiso Mokone (23) from Marry Me in Soshanguve, Tshwane, are now living in fear.
According to Sibongile, the group arrived at her door on Tuesday night.
“They said they were police,” she told Daily Sun.
“I switched on the lights and opened the door, but they told me to turn off the lights and used their torches. They said they were searching for dagga.
“When I told them I didn’t have any, they started beating me up.”
She admitted that her ex-lover used to sell dagga in the area.
“I said I could take them to him, but they beat me up again and said they wanted it from me,” she said.
“I’ve never sold, kept or even
entertained my ex-boyfriend’s dagga business.
“I even broke up with him because he was making my life hell.”
Sifiso said he was sleeping in his shack next door when he heard noises and went to find out what was going on.
“They told me they were the police and that I should go back to my shack,” he said.
“I asked them for their police IDs and they beat me up, saying I was nosy.”
He said they went inside Sibongile’s shack and took R2 500.
“They said they would be back for us,” he said.
“We don’t know who those people were or how we’ve wronged them. I’m scared they might kill someone,” he said.
The family reported the incident to Soshanguve police.
Soshanguve police spokeswoman Constable Zanele Mtsweni said a case of assault was opened.
“The case has been referred to Ipid for further investigation,” said Mtsweni.
