ACCORDING to residents of Mamelodi East in Tshwane, a man in their kasi has been selling their houses without their permission!
On Tuesday, about 10 people protested against the alleged fraudster.
They told Daily Sun they were evicted by people who had bought their homes from the man.
Rosemary Ika (56) said she and her family were asked to move out for the third time last week.
She said people came to her house and dumped her furniture in the street.
“I wasn’t home but my neighbours called me and said I should rush home,” she said.
“I immediately put my furniture back in the house and went to the police station to report the incident.
“In 2012, we were almost evicted by a woman with a summons but we refused to leave.
“Another woman later came and said she bought our house from the same man.”
Rosemary said she went to court over the issue last year and won the case.
“The judgment said we were the lawful owners of the property.”
Rosemary’s daughter Winnie (28) said the people who took their furniture out of their house told them to leave within 24 hours.
“We’re not going anywhere because this is our home and we have been living here for over a decade,” she said.
Another victim, Rose Makhura, said she had also been asked to move out three times.
When the SunTeam contacted the man alleged to have sold the houses, he refused to comment.
Councillor Collen Marishane said he had met the Ika family.
“I advised them to get a lawyer because this issue needs to be solved in court.”
