MOST mums are understanding when their kids have little accidents.

But this 24-year-old allegedly burned her two-year-old daughter with a spoon she heated on the stove when the child accidentally wet herself on the coach!

The mum from Ivory Park extension 2 near Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, was apparently so angry with her daughter for having an accident that she burned her more than once.

Ivory Park police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Nelda Sekgobela said cops from the victim empowerment unit received a call from a concerned community member on Monday about the little girl being abused.

A sector manager was informed and went to the child’s house to investigate the allegation.

“She came back with a woman and her little girl. The child had bruises on her legs and her back,” said Sekgobela.

She said police questioned the mum about how her child had been hurt.

“She told them the child had relieved herself on the sofa and so she decided to burn her several times with a hot teaspoon,” said Sekgobela.

The suspect was immediately arrested and taken to the Ivory Park police cells.

The child was taken to Tembisa Hospital and was later to be sent to a place of safety.

The suspect was set to appear in the Tembisa Magistrates Court on a charge of assault GBH.
