FOUL play in the Eskom hearing is suspected!
According to media reports, key witnesses in the disciplinary hearing of suspended Eskom executive Matshela Koko are claiming foul play to be involved in the hearings.
This is after France Hlakudi and his Abram Masango were suspended in the past two weeks for allegations of misconduct raised against them.
It is still unclear whether Masango will testify against Koko.
It was reported that Koko allegedly went on a campaign to eliminate competition for the post he held.
Koko himself is facing six charges relating to the irregular awarding of more than R1 billion worth of tenders to a company his step-daughter had shares in.
The charges also relate to how he reportedly removed employees from their positions when we was appointed Eskom’s acting chief.
TimesLive reported that Eskom sources allege that the suspensions of Hlakudi and Masango were “fast-tracked to stop them from being called before the hearing.”
In a written response, Eskom said: “Mr Masango is still a witness and has not been excluded. Mr Hlakudi has declines to give evidence as he is no longer an Eskom Employee.
The hearings against Koko are set to resume on Thursday after being postponed for a lengthy period.
