THIS could be a headache of a week for President Jacob Zuma.
In the Constitutional Court, Zuma and the National Assembly will be challenged for not complying with public protector Thuli Madonsela’s recommendation that he pay a share of non-security upgrades at his Nkandla home.
Zuma, who fought against this for a long time, has now offered to pay out of court. But the EFF and DA, which are taking him to court, reject that.
The EFF wants Zuma to admit that he breached his constitutional duty. They also want Madonsela’s remedial actions upheld by Zuma and Parliament before they agree to Zuma’s offer.
The EFF called on its supporters and the public to march in protest.
Yesterday, EFF spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi tweeted: “Some hooligans of the ANCYL plan to disrupt our march tomorrow, wearing red EFF T-shirts. I have news for them, in the EFF we know each other.”
The DA said yesterday the case was vital for clarity on Madonsela’s powers and to enforce her recommendations.
