THE EFF has claimed victory following the Guptas’ announcement on Saturday that they want to sell off all their South African businesses by the end of the year.
However, the party said it would treat the announcement with caution as it does not trust the Gupta family.
The party’s acting national spokesman, Fana Mokoena, said: “The EFF will not stop until we have rooted the entire Gupta tree and its offspring out of our country’s system.
“We will not stop until all individuals with offshore accounts traceable to the Guptas, all individuals with business interests with them have been exposed. We urge them to do the right thing before the people of South Africa take action.
“Since the EFF exposed these thugs in 2015, the country has woken to the extent to which this family has captured our state, ravaged our resources and attempted to control the public purse through their corrupt relationship with President Jacob Zuma and his son, Duduzane.”
The party also called on all ministers and politicians allegedly in the pocket of the Guptas to cut ties with them.
On Saturday Gupta family spokesman Gary Naidoo said they believed it was the right time to leave their local businesses, which they believed would benefit their existing employees.
The EFF said it would be watching closely to see who the Gupta businesses were sold to.
“We do not trust that there is anything honourable about these sales and caution the public not to believe in their lies until the country has rooted every trace of the Guptas and their puppets out of our system,” said Mokoena.
