OUPA Kodisang said kasi people nominated him as an ANC ward councillor for the coming local government election – and he plans to stand, despite death threats!
“They love me as I have been spearheading the fight against crime and helping them with service delivery issues,” said Oupa (34).
He said the threats began with private number phone calls telling him to stop campaigning if he wanted to live.
Then he got SMSes that threatened to bomb him and his family at home.
“I’m full of fear when I go to sleep. I don’t know who is sending these SMSes.”
Oupa said he laid a complaint of intimidation with Kagiso cops.
But he said he wouldn’t quit the race to become ward councillor.
“I know what people want. I have been on the ground fighting crime, which is a big problem in the kasi.”
Mpho Makhanya (36) said she is campaigning as a candidate against Oupa, but condemned threats to Oupa from “cowards”.
“We have involved the police who will get the suspects,” she said.
Mpho said there’s a group fighting their nominations. “If the dispute continues, we will involve the ANC top brass,” said Mpho.
Kagiso Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said police are investigating a case of intimidation.
No one had been arrested yet.
