Alex Thabethe pleads for a two-roomed house for his family.

ALEX Thabethe applied for an RDP house in 2007 but has had no luck.

The 65-year-old man from Nquthu in northern KZN said he sends his youngest child to the spaza shop when he wants to spend quality time with his wife.

This misery began when their family increased.

With 10 children, there’s just not enough space in their one-roomed tin shack.

The family is hoping a good Samaritan will give them a two-roomed house.

Alex told Daily Sun their children are aged between three and 18 years.

“It’s very hard for us to sleep all squashed up.

“When it rains the leaking shack becomes a dam,” he said.

“My wife and I are jobless and rely on the children’s grant money.

“I do piece work for extra cash.”

His wife Nomathemba (47) said if they got a proper house the intimacy between her and Alex would pick up again and the children would have a decent home.

Umzinyathi municipal Speaker Bongani Khambule said he would ask officials to help the family.
