Following this, cops conducted an operation at his place in Atterigeville at midnight on Monday.

The police found him and recovered one Z88 pistol and a black Mercedes Benz that he uses to drive around.

Police minister Fikile Mbalula said he salutes the South African Police Service (SAPS) for smoking criminals out of their homes in Atteridgeville, Pretoria.

"We will continue to hunt criminals and smoke them out of their hiding holes. Their time is up and we can no longer watch as they terrorise our communities. I salute our police officers for arresting a suspected criminal with so many cases pending against him. We have no time to waste time. My message to all criminals is that we are coming for you our people can no longer live in fear," Minister Mbalula said.

The suspect has 12 pending serious violent crime cases of including that of murder, carjacking and robbery and several with the status of being withdrawn.

The suspect appeared in court on Tuesday and was denied bail.

He said the SAPS are working hard to make more arrest linked to the cases Sammy Morake is suspected to be responsible for.
