A 48-year-old cop shot and injured his wife and turned the gun on himself after, at Sundial Place in Tongaat, KwaZulu Natal
Reaction Unit South Africa was called to a residential area by a resident reporting multiple shots fired at the a house located next to a church.
The Warrant Officer based at the Tongaat SAPS allegedly approached his wife who prepares meals at the Mission on Sundays.
The couple began to argue and then the cop drew him 9mm service gun and fired three shots at her.
One bullet hit her in the arm.
He then went on to an opened ground behind the Mission and shot himself in the head.
Following that paramedics were called to the scene and upon arrival found that the cop had been fatally injured and was declared deceased.
His wife was rushed to the Tongaat Clinic by a member of public before being transferred to the local hospital.
A case of attempted murder and suicide is being investigated.
