COFFIN ASSAULT DUO BAIL DENIED!

JUDGE Segopotje Mphahlele has denied the bail application in the coffin assault case.

Theo Jackson and Willem Oosthuizen returned to the Middelburg Magistrate's Court this morning in a bid to appeal their sentences in the Supreme Court of Appeal.

Theo Jackson and Willem Oosthuizen were found guilty of assault, attempted murder, kidnapping and intimidation on 25 August.

Previously, Judge Shiela Mphahlele said the two accused showed little remorse during the trial.

She sentenced Willem Oosthuizen to 16 years in prison of which 5 were suspended, meaning he will serve an effective 11 years in jail.

His accomplice, Theo Jackson, was sentenced 19 years in jail of which 5 years was suspended, meaning he will serve an effective 14 years in prison.
