WHEN Meshack found out his girlfriend was cheating, he was offered a R3 000 bribe to keep quiet.
Meshack Makgamatha (29) thought he’d done the right thing by refusing to take the dirty money, but his cheating girlfriend dumped him for refusing the offer.
Meshack said he met his girlfriend Thato Modise (24) on a train in 2014.
“It was love at first sight,” he said.
They swapped numbers and soon they were seeing each other and even meeting each other’s families.
Meshack told Daily Sun he didn’t want his girlfriend to stay at home all the time so he got her a job at a security company – but that was his big mistake.
She was promoted after three months and started bringing home expensive equipment like laptops and cellphones.
He said then he found out his girlfriend was having sex with her supervisor.
“There were messages on her phone from her and her boss. I went to speak to him and he admitted to having a relationship with my girlfriend. He offered me money so I wouldn’t go to the media or the cops.
“That’s when my girlfriend insisted I must take the money because the man had admitted to his sins and wanted forgiveness.”
Daily Sun spoke to Simon Mabelani, the man accused of cheating.
He confirmed meeting Meshack at the police station. “He asked to talk about his girlfriend, who is my colleague,” he said.
But he denied being in a relationship with her.
The girlfriend said her boyfriend is abusive.
She said she didn’t leave him because he wouldn’t take the bribe.
“Meshack is just bitter because I left him to stay with my parents,” said Thato.
“I don’t love him anymore. He insults and beats me up, accusing me of cheating on him.”
Phillip Kekana, the manager of G4s Security Company in Pretoria, said they strongly condemn superiors having relationships with workers at the company.
Phillip encouraged the complainant to lay formal charges at the company and said they would deal with the matter. “We discourage such things and we will deal with it in a serious manner if receive a formal complaint.”
