AFTER finding out the Fubesi family couldn’t afford to bury three of their kids struck dead by lightning, an undertaker came to their rescue.

Mandla Makinana, who owns Makinana Funeral Services in East London, buried the kids on Saturday free of charge.

This is after learning about the family’s plight from Daily Sun.

The kids died after the family home in Gqogqorha Village, Tsomo was hit by lightning on
25 October.

Cebisa (13), Sonezo (9) and Mayihlome Fubesi (4) and Songeziwe Siganga (7) were alone in the house at the time.

Mayihlome died instantly while Cebisa and Sonezo died at Mount Frere Hospital the next day.

Songeziwe is still in hospital.

Mandla kept the bodies in his mortuary, gave them coffins and transported them from East London to Tsomo for the funeral for free.

“I am here because of Daily Sun. The SunTeam contacted me about this tragedy and I decided to help,” said Mandla.

“When you’re a businessman it’s important to help people. Money is not more important than helping others.”

Zolile Fubesi (53), the father of the kids, said he didn’t have the words to thank Mandla.

“People like him are few and far between. What he has done will always remain in our hearts. We also thank Daily Sun for telling him about our situation,” he said.

At the funeral, relatives told the SunTeam they were pleased and grateful to see have a dignified burial for the kids.
