WHEN Pirates soccer star Thabo Rakhale saw the name Love in his girlfriend’s WhatsApp contacts, he apparently demanded answers.
But it’s claimed what his girlfriend told him clearly wasn’t enough to calm down the enraged boyfriend.
THABO NOW FACES ASSAULT CHARGES AFTER ALLEGEDLY BEATING HIS GIRLFRIEND.
Cops said on Tuesday, Thabo Rakhale (27) took his car to be repaired in Duncanville, outside Vereeniging in the Vaal.
The soccer star apparently called his girlfriend to fetch him at the workshop.
Cops said the woman picked him up, but then he allegedly took her phone and browsed through her WhatsApp chats. That’s when he saw the name Love.
And when he started asking questions, the girlfriend allegedly didn’t give him the answers he was looking for.
They were on their way to Bedworth Park, but before getting to their destination, the couple stopped at a filling station, where it’s claimed the fighting continued.
The well-known soccer star then allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with a car charger and later manhandled her.
The girlfriend opened a case of assault on Saturday and Rakhale, also known as Jomo, was arrested and kept in the holding cells at Vereeniging cop shop.
Vereeniging cop spokesman, Captain Fikile Funda, confirmed that the soccer star was arrested and charged.
“The star allegedly started a quarrel over names saved on his girlfriend’s WhatsApp,” the cop told Daily Sun.
“He briefly appeared in court and has been released. His case has been postponed.”
Orlando Pirates’ spokeswoman Thandi Merafe told Daily Sun she did not have a comment as she doesn’t work on holidays.
“It’s a public holiday. The entire nation is on holiday,” she said.
Numerous attempts to get comment from the Bucs’ winger failed. His phone was off all day.
