SHE let a stranger hold her baby while she waited in line.

The stranger disappeared with her two-month-old baby. Now Mount Road’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit are investigating a case of abduction after the baby’s disappearance at Walmer Township Clinic, in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.

Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the mother was waiting to be helped by nurses when the woman offered to hold the baby. The suspect said she needed to change the baby’s nappy.

“The suspect left the clinic with the baby,” said Janse van Rensburg.

The mother made inquiries and was told a woman fitting the description left in a taxi. Anyone with information can phone Walmer cops on (041) 509 4000 or Crime Line 08600 10111.
