WHEN Shimi arrived at the party, he asked for a plate of food.

But before he could finish his food he was stabbed, run over by a car and stabbed.

Shimi Aphane (32), from Mpheleng near Dennilton in Limpopo, was attacked on Saturday night.

Shimi’s cousin, Kori Phetla (38), said an argument broke out between Shimi and four other men. Apparently, one of them smashed a beer bottle on Shimi’s head before chasing him out of the house.

“He was walking home bleeding when the house owner’s son followed him in his father’s car,” said Kori.

“He ran Shimi over in the street, but he managed to get up and tried to flee. The other boys gave chase and caught him. He was repeatedly stabbed under his armpit and stomach.”

Kori said the boys then left him for dead, with his intestines hanging out.

An ambulance was called but it allegedly did not arrive. “A car was used to rush Shimi to hospital, but he died on arrival,” said Kori.

On Sunday night, angry residents stormed the house where the party was held and set it alight.

Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said a case of murder was opened, and that 11 people were bust for arson and malicious damage to property.

They have been kept in jail and will appear in court again on Friday.
