IN HIS home country of Ethiopia, he was thrown in jail for protesting against the oppressive regime.
Upon his release, businessman Abdul Jalin fled to Kenya, but locals accused him of being an activist.
Again he was forced to flee and finally thought he had found hope in Mzansi.
But more heartache followed in 2015 when Abdul cheated death as a xenophobic mob vandalised and looted his shop.
But the terror is not over yet!
After the Ethiopian shop owner from Spooktown section near Westonaria, Gauteng, rebuilt his shop, a new group of men are now threatening to kill him.
“These young men say I’m taking their business and called me a shit capitalist. They said I had better voetsek,” said Abdul.
He said one of the men told him they were planning to open a shop too.
Bekkersdal police spokeswoman Sergeant Linky Lefakane said she was not aware of the incident.
However, she asked the complainant to come to the station so the matter can be taken to senior officials.
